الشعاب المرجانية

الشعاب المرجانية هي هياكل ارجوانية  تتكون من كائنات حية موجودة في المياه الضحلة في المناطق المدارية التي تقل بها نسبة الغذاء أو تنعدم تماما. وتضر الشعاب المرجانية وذلك نتيجة لتكون الطحالب عليها. وتنقسم الشعاب المرجانية الى:

أ) الشعاب الهامشية : تكون قريبة من الساحل.

 ب) الجزر الحلقية المرجانية : تكون الجزر الحلقية المرجانية  على شكل دوائر ويكون بعد عن الساحل كون على شكل جزيرة توجد بداخلها بحيرة وتأخذ شكل البركان. وقد اختلف العلماء في تكوين هذه الشعب فمنهم من يقول أنها على فوهة بركان، ومنهم من يقول تكونت في العصر الجليدي وبعد انحسار الماء أصبحت دائرية ومنهم من يقول أنها بسبب هبوط للقشرة وارتفاع منسوب المياه.

 ج) الحاجز المرجاني : يتميز الحاجز المرجاني  بالصلابة وهو ابعد من الشعب الهامشية.
